The use of biotechnology in hop (Humulus lupulus L.) improvement

چکیده
Hop (Humulus lupulus L.) is a clonally propagated, dioecious, perennial, climbing plant used commercially for their secondary metabolites. The resins containing α- and β-acids, essential oils produced by the lupulin glands, present on female flowers are to add bitterness, aroma flavour beer. Recently, flavonoids, including chalcones flavanones, of hops have been shown exert variety biological activities, oestrogenic anticancerogenic characteristics. In this review, we provide overview techniques opportunities presented integration biotechnology into hop improvement. use tissue culture such as micropropagation, meristem culture, in vitro storage, adventitious shoot induction, callus cell suspension briefly reviewed. usefullness genetic transformation technology introduce novel traits also discussed.

Predicting Offspring Performance in Hop (Humulus lupulus L
J. Am. Soc. Brew. Chem. 68(3):125-131, 2010 Genetic information for male and female hop accessions is limited, hampering parental selection to maximize offspring productivity. Our objective was to determine whether amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP)derived genetic distance (GDmm) estimates and coancestry estimates from pedigrees (GSped) between parental pairs could be used to predict...

An isotope dilution method using [1-(13)C]sodium (Na) acetate was conducted to determine the effect of feeding hop (Humulus lupulus L.) residues on plasma acetate metabolism in six adult crossbred sheep. The sheep were fed 63 g/kg BW(0.75)/d of either mixed hay (MH-diet) of orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata L.) and reed canarygrass (Phalaris arundinacea L.) at a 60:40 ratio or MH-diet and hop-re...

Hops (Humulus lupulus L. Cannabaceae) is an economically important crop, that has drawn more attention in recent years due to its potential pharmaceutical applications. Bitter acids (prenylated polyketides) and prenylflavonoids are the primary phytochemical components that account for hops resins medicinal value. We have previously reported on utilizing untargeted NMR and MS metabolomics for an...

Nowadays, the world hop industry is faced with one of the biggest crisis in the history. Permanent decrease of hopping rates in the world beer industry during last 20 years caused many problems to hop producers all around the world. It resulted in the huge surpluses of hop stocks between years 2008 and 2010, the ages known as “years of famine” for hop farmers. Th e hop contains some compounds h...
